Stuck like quarters in the couch I was waitin' to be let out I was shakin' the vending machines That's when she found me I pushed all the right buttons But I didn't get nothin' I pushed all the right buttons But I didn't get what I wanted Was thrown out like a stone She caught me like a window Although I should be grateful I just kept on rollin' on Everything inside of me Begged and screamed Everything inside of me Wanted to be released Stuck like quarters in that couch I was waitin' to be let out I was shakin' the vending machines But god knows I don't deserve no treats I pushed all the right buttons But I didn't get nothin' I pushed all the right buttons But I didn't get what I wanted

Bitch 02:46
Sometimes I think Sometimes I know Your purpose in life To make me miserable Why can’t I do that to you? As cool as you are Dumb as I feel I feel out of place Around all your pretty friends Why can’t I do that to them? Why can’t I do that to them?
Tryin’ just as hard as I can Tryin’ just as hard as I can Tryin’ just as hard as I can But I’m just a man Well you’re a bitch I wanted to say that for a while now Yeah, you’re a bitch It makes me smile Tell ya just exactly what you are Tell ya just exactly what you are I can’t take no more of it I can’t take no more of your shit Bitch

Hundred dollar bills A hundred dollar bills Don’t last like they did before No, they don’t last like they did before Late at night She’d sell her body, and I’d sell my soul She’ll take her clothes off, and I’d sell my soul For pieces of gold It’s gettin’ old Through all your cheap thrills, girl After all the cheap thrills We don’t laugh like we did before No, you don’t laugh like you did before Ooh, I take everything back I just want to laugh again You can’t tell me that it’s not that bad I saw it all, from the first to the last

She was the prettiest girl in Colorado Ooh, where did she go? Off to see a boy she didn’t even know Ooh, she hit the road When she arrived she knew no one She felt like she belonged Yeah, she felt like she belonged That’s ‘cause she was home That’s ‘cause she was home I was the loneliest boy in Seattle And she hit the road

It's Alright 03:06
She came to Texas lookin’ for fun We made a baby that’s what we’ve done I write sad songs she stays up all night Weed smoke, cigarettes, while our baby cries Now and then, it’s the thick and thin And that’s alright I get depressed and mean, she starts to scream And then we fight Once again, the stress set in ‘Cause the money got tight Bills come in, but we can’t pay them ‘Cause my dumb ass got fired Ooh, that’s my life I’m doin’ fine It’s alright I’m doin’ fine Above a whisper she speaks to me She lies about damn near everything I’m alright, I’m just fine, yeah I’m alright, most the time Now and then, it’s the thick and thin But she’s by my side I get depressed and mean, she starts to scream And then we fight Once again, the stress set in ‘Cause the money got tight Depressed and mean, she starts to scream And then we fight Ooh, yeah that’s alright I’m doin’ fine, yeah It’s alright I guess I’m doin’ fine

Wit's End 03:27
Wit’s end says it all We’ve gone and hit the wall Trouble is, she is my favorite high Trouble is, she ain’t mine Wit’s end says it all I’ve come to beg and crawl Don’t wanna feel like I’m livin’ a lie But I’d rather leave then lay down and die Down and die Every couple minutes she’s crossin’ my mind Tryin’ to forget her, stop wastin’ my time Every couple minutes she’s crossin’ my mind Tryin’ to forget her, stop wastin’ my time Wit’s end says it all I’m gonna take the fall It’s cool, can’t say I ain’t tried No regrets girl, let’s just cut our ties Wit’s end says it all

about

This is the culmination of Rhett's music up to and during his time in Missouri. We put together a band, played a few open mic nights, learned some hard life lessons, and with some cheap mics, broken souls, and almost broken gear, down and dirty tracked these songs at the last possible opportunity (4 days) before Rhett moved away, against a backdrop of the stale midwestern winter in 2014.

credits

released November 7, 2020

Rhett Lee - guitars, primary songwriting, vocals and lyrics, cover art
Jeff Simmons - drums, producer/engineer
Liz Snyder - bass
Special thanks to: James Hearron, Griffin Meagher, Andy and Joel (and the whole damn Kirch family for that matter), Bumstead's in Nixa (where we played open mics)... uhh... and a MOTU interface that kept kickin analog.
